January New York Cares - Coat Drive - MWE collects donations of coats as part of The New York Cares Coat Drive. Coats that are donated get distributed to keep New Yorkers warm in the winter.
February American Heart Association - Go Red for Women - Employees wear red in support of The American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women" campaign and also collect donations for the organization.
March American Cancer Society - Daffodil Days - Employees purchase Daffodils from 1800Flowers to raise awareness. Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society to support the fight against cancer.
April Dress For Success & Career Gear Clothing Drive - MWE collects donations of women's and men's professional clothing as part of the "Dress for Success" and "Career Gear Clothing" program. This clothing is donated to various organizations on Long Island and gets distributed to women re-entering the workforce.
May Nassau County Games for Physically Challenged - MWE Staff volunteer for the opening ceremonies of the Nassau County Games for Physically Challenged in preparing and serving food during the games.
June Ellen Gordon CPAs Run/Walk - MWE supports Island Harvest by participating in the Ellen Gordon CPAs 4(a) Cause Run/Walk. This event holds a special place in MWE employees' hearts as the run is held in memory of MWE employee, Ellen Gordon. Donations raised by the event go to feed the hungry on Long Island.
July Pet Drive - LI Cares & Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter - Donations are collected for the Pet Food Drive, which benefits Long Island Cares and The Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter.
August Annual Ice Cream Social - Family & Children's Association - Our Annual Ice Cream Social! This event raises money to purchase school supplies which will be donated to children across Long Island to help them get prepared for the upcoming school year.
Live Projects - MWE volunteers with Long Island Volunteer Enterprise (LIVE) on various outdoor and indoor projects each year that help Long Island's not-for-profit community.
September Long Island Cares - Harry Chapin Food Drive - Donations are collected for People & Pet Food Drive, which benefits Long Island Cares and The Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter.
Ronald McDonald - Meals from the Heart - Staff members visit The Ronald McDonald House and prepare meals for the families staying there during a loved one's hospital stay. The Ronald McDonald House supports families of seriously ill children by creating a community filled with comfort and hope.
October American Cancer Society - Making Strides Walk - MWE participates in the annual American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" walk. The walk raises money for valuable research in detecting and treating breast cancer.
November Junior Achievement - Youth Education - MWE Employees help prepare young people for the real world by volunteering to teach financial literacy at local schools.
December Ronald McDonald - Little Hands Helping Little Hands - Staff members visit The Ronald McDonald House and bake desserts for the families staying there during a loved one's hospital stay. The Ronald McDonald House supports families of seriously ill children by creating a community filled with comfort and hope.
Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program - For the holiday season, MWE joins forces with the Young CPAs Committee of the NYSSCPA Suffolk Chapter to collect toys for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. Employees simply bring in an unused, unwrapped children's toy to bring a smile to a child's face for the holidays!
NY Cares - Winter Wishes - For the holiday season, staff members volunteers take handwritten letters from children and personally shop and wrap each gift, delivering it just in time for the holidays.
