Long Island Life: A Great Place to Live – And Work

It’s often thought of as a bedroom community, but most people who live on Long Island work there, too. Professional services firms on the Island offer competitive salaries and benefits. In fact, more than 100,000 people commute from the five boroughs of New York City to jobs on Long Island every day. And why not? Long Island is a great place to live – and a great place to work.

Most Long Island businesses are near good highways or public transportation and offer plenty of parking. And after work, all the things that make Long Island such an attractive place to live – great schools, shopping, dining, sports, entertainment, beaches and parks, to name a few – are right nearby. And by spending less time traveling to and from work, you’ll have more time to enjoy them.

Housing is pricey anywhere in the New York metro area, but there are ways to make it more affordable. Some businesses, including Margolin, Winer & Evens, have teamed up with the Long Island Housing Partnership to offer significant financial help to employees looking to buy a home. Employees are eligible for thousands of dollars in forgivable loans from the firm and even more from the local and state governments.

With help from programs like these and a little smart shopping, you can have a great place to live along with your great new job.
